The Church of

San Sisinio

The Crib of '700

Is one of the few popular cribs of Canton Ticino, with numerous statues of small dimensions and the scenic reconstruction of the landscape, permanently exposed, guarded in a display window placed in the Chorus.

The '700 crib was acquired in 1856 in Munich, Bavaria, one of the most important centers of "nordic crib arts". There one can find the world's most complete crib collection, together with the one Wien, which counts 459 pieces.

Chiesa di San Sisinio, il Presepe del '700

The crib of the Church of San Sisinio,  renewed 2001 by

Ursula Vögeli and Willi Böschenstein, Lumino, Ticino.

This crib let us understand that the mystery of the prodigious birth of Christ has not been revealed to everyone, for this reason it does not limit itself to propose scenes of the Holy Birth, but also pays great attention to the indisturbed daily life, describing it with nice scenes and a faithful reconstruction of atmosphere.
